The Book Lovers’ Afternoon Tea – December

Add to my calendar »

Welcome to our December Book Lovers’ Afternoon Tea event hosted by myself (Laura Maginess) and my book club partner in crime and celebrated author Claire Duffy – aka the Jackie Collins of Shawlands.

Sponsored by the host of the Wealth Magnetism podcast Renata Cook, the mission of the Book Lovers’ Tea Party to encourage friendship and the collective reading of fab fiction. This is not an event you need to have read any books in particular for, but rather it will include a panelist chat with some authors in our genre focus and for the event! This month our genre focus is: Mon the Lassies: Women’s Fiction

The Plan

Date: 8th December 2024

Time: 12 – 4pm

Location: The Corinthian

What to expect –

⚡️ a glass of fizz or mocktail on arrival to wet the whistles for all the book lover’s chat

⚡️ a delicious afternoon tea served on round tables, ideal for conversation. We will have a table plan created in advance so solo bookers and members (who make up the bulk of our bookings) can sit together and connect.

⚡️A Q&A with authors

⚡️Questions shared with each table about the book

⚡️The dusty book exchange- attendees will be invited to bring any books gathering dust on their bookshelves to swap

Who can attend

This event is open to all members and like-minded ladies who have a shared love of reading, chatting and cake!

The Genre focus for the day will be: Mon the Lassies: Women’s Fiction, so have a think about your fave books that shout about kick ass wummun!

Over in our Book Club Chat Room in the Glasglow Girls Club Facebook group, from October – December, we have been reading the books below, but you do not have to have read any of these to get in about this event.

One Day in Winter – Shari Low (click here if you fancy shopping via our Amazon Affiliate link)

The Lighthouse Witches – CJ Cooke (click here if you fancy shopping via our Amazon Affiliate link)

Love on the Rocks – Emily Brandon (click here if you fancy shopping via our Amazon Affiliate link)

If you like the sound of our book club chat room (which is a wee aside to our Book Lovers’ Tea parties, then you can get involved by clicking here)

More about Claire Duffy

Claire is a Glasgow crime, romance and romantasy author who is known as the Jackie Collins of Shawlands (mostly by herself). She was a screenwriter for over a decade until the film industry made her so bitter that she caught herself cycling past a production company giving it the finger. She quit, went to work in a pre school in Stockholm and wrote her first novel while her class of one-year-olds napped.

More about our sponsors

Renata Cook, our headline sponsor for the GGC Book Club, is the founder of both Renata Cook Wealth Management and the Wealth Magnetism Podcast. We cannot recommend having a listen highly enough! Sage in the Sky not only scent the room at our book club, but Carrie also brings along some of her gorgeous products for some shopping, she also provides all who attend a discount code to online shop with her at a later date and carries out tarot readings during our event too.
