‘Meet The Member’ is our blog series where we get to know the members of our business club a little better. In this post, we catch up with Nicole Hamilton – NKH Jewellery Glasgow

My name is Nicole Hamilton and I own NKH Jewellery Glasgow where I make both standard and custom pieces for every occasion that won’t break the bank.

I wanted a business I could do from home, on top of my full time job and studies and something that I could be proud of. I’ve always loved crafting and keeping myself busy and to be quite honest, helping people wherever I can. I am due to get married next year (Aaaahhhhh :D) and couldn’t see any jewellery I wanted for my big day. I also couldn’t justify the pricing I was seeing so I thought there may be a wee gap in the market for affordable, stylish jewellery.

My jewellery isn’t going to save the world but it could mean the world to someone and that keeps me going. The best piece of advice I’ve been given is to stop making ‘what I want to see’ because to be quite honest, I would keep every product I made. I’ve started asking around to see what potential clients want to see, what are affordable budgets for people at the moment and I try to stick within this bracket as best I can. The biggest challenge so far has been outgoing costs. In regards to challenges, this is still a relatively new business and I just can’t afford professional photography or amazing packaging yet however, I am doing my research on how to make my site look better and putting everything I make back into the pot for sustainable packaging. My number one business tip for success would have to be, ‘don’t give up!’. Even on your darkest days/weeks/months, just know that your time is still to come and if you stick with it, you’ll get there.

For 2023, my goal/dream is to build my business following and hopefully have a space in a local shop/retailer where I can stock my products as not everyone likes to purchase online. I am hopeful that the GGC membership will help me with networking with like-minded individuals and offer some support along the way. I also offer 10% off the total order price for GGC members.
