Meet The Member – Lara Elliott, Lemur Technologies Ltd

Name: Lara Elliott
Business name: Lemur Technologies Ltd

Tell us about your businesses, the inspiration behind it and when you launched it?

I launched Lemur Technologies in May 2024. I create bespoke websites for businesses who either don’t have one or are in need of a little touch-up. I’ve been a computer geek all my life, from gaming to coding so it was very natural for me to study computing. This drove my interest in coding and I began making websites for fun. I recently decided to turn it into a business and I’m happy to say after only a couple of months I’m seeing great success!

Best piece of advice you were given at the start of your business journey?

The best piece of advice I was given at the start was ‘you’ll get out as much as you put in.’. This really allowed me to realise the efforts required to create a successful business and got me motivated as it was all up to me.

What has been your biggest lesson/ challenge faced so far and how did you overcome it?

The biggest challenge I have faced is putting myself out there and networking. Conforming to the introverted stereotype of computer geeks meant that going out and speaking to/in-front of people was quite a daunting prospect. I’m happy to say now that I love networking, and talking to people has become second nature to me!

What is your number 1 business tip for success?

Commit fully to your journey, whether that’s business, self-discovery, or anything really! If you commit 100% then you won’t have any regrets if things don’t work out as expected. And more often than not, if you do really commit to it, you will find success.

What are the big business goals for the next year?

My big goals for the next year are to have attended at least 10 networking events, gain 20 new clients and potentially expand the business into different tech-related avenues.

How can the GGC Business membership help?

The resources available are amazing and full of really helpful information! Plus, meeting other entrepreneurs and networking with businesses is invaluable when you’re just starting out. Everyone you meet has a story and advice to give.

What’s the dream?

The dream is to make my company the go-to in Glasgow for all things web design, SEO, marketing and client management. I would love to have an in person premises with staff who each specialise in one area of the business.

Fave mantra to get you buzzed up for business?

“Success tends to bless those who are most committed to giving it the most attention” – Grant Cardone

Shout out to another local business you admire?

It’s difficult to only choose one!!! Probably Colette Kerr at Oracle Law – Colette introduced me to multiple business groups and they’ve all been extremely helpful in guiding me and helping me learn the ropes. So big shout out to Colette!

Three fun facts about you!

1. I always wear odd socks.
2. I train karate and will be going for my black belt next year
3. I’m a massive music geek and collect vinyl from a wide range of genres, 70s rock being my favourite.
