Meet The Member – Kelly Molloy, AU Tans

Name: Kelly Molloy

Business Name: AU Tans

Tell us about your businesses, the inspiration behind it and when you launched it?

AU Tans was born out of love and admiration for my fellow female entrepreneurs, pushing through the challenges, creating a life they love. A life of freedom to work on their own terms and on their own passions.

Having had big dreams for Ban-dia, my own fashion label from a young age, I had resigned myself to the fact that I was never going to reach my goals due to never having the time or money. Every few years I would fall back in love with the dream then reality would punch me in the gut and I would push myself further into the corporate career ladder and further away from my true calling.
The last few years, the urge to grow my own brand has grown stronger than ever. Fighting daily to find ways to drum up the capital, I was inspired by the success of a tanning legend and friend, Bondi Sands by Debs.

Ban-dia, is a brand on a mission to revolutionise athleisurewear for fuller busted women, inviting them to tap into their divine feminine energy with confidence and allure. And what better compliment than launching AU Tans, a sunless tanning business with the same mission to encourage women to celebrate their inner goddess.

AU Tans is newly launched in the last month.

Best piece of advice you were given at the start of your business journey?

Just go for it, stop waiting about!

What has been your biggest lesson/ challenge faced so far and how did you overcome it?

My biggest challenge for AU Tans right now is getting out there and gaining the trust of women to allow me to provide their spray tan. I am still in the middle of this challenge, trying to build my customer base. In order to achieve this, I hope to build trust and a positive vibe through my social media.

What is your number 1 business tip for success?

Trust in your abilities and be confident. But do not try to do EVERYTHING on your own.

What are the big business goals for the year?

For the rest of this year, I hope to build a good customer base.

How can the GGC Business membership help?

Advertising and putting me in touch with potential customers.

What’s the dream?

The dream is for AU Tans to become successful enough, that I can give up the corporate day job and build the ultimate dream; my own fashion label and studio in Glasgow.

Shout out to another local business you admire?

I admire a lot of local businesses, some part of the GGC and some I have tried to encourage to join.

Give us 3 fun facts about you!

1. I received my first ever bee sting at 40years old and it was on my butt. A bumble bee decided to fly up my dress while I was at work and sting 3 times before I realised what it was causing the pain.

2. As a kid, I seen ghosts of different kinds. A few of my most vivid “memories” are – My gran, who I had a full blown conversation with, but had passed years before I was born. A lion that was so calm and smiled at me as it slowly walked passed me and a centaur in the distance with a pitchfork.

3. I am addicted to Nutella and used to eat a full jar in one sitting at least once per week. I am no longer allowed to buy Nutella.
