Team GGC have #supportivesunday in the main community where we share the more personal posts but we also reach out to a lot of people behind the scenes with links to specific resources so we have collated this list that some people might find useful.

Mental Health Support/Crisis/Sexual Violence

Breathing Space – A free, confidential, phone and webchat service for anyone in Scotland over the age of 16 experiencing low mood, depression or anxiety.

Scottish Association for Mental Health – Providing mental health social care support, addictions and employment services, among others

No Panic – No Panic is a registered charity that helps and supports those living with Panic Attacks, Phobias, Obsessive Compulsive Disorders and other related anxiety disorders.

Cope Scotland – Innovative resources designed to boost your well-being and enhance life satisfaction

Samaritans – Their free helpline is here for anyone who is struggling, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year

Self Injury Support – They’re willing to talk about the things that others aren’t.

The Spark – The Spark is a charity that provides counselling and mental health support services for individuals, couples, families, children and young people across Scotland and the UK

Glasgow and Clyde Rape Crisis Centre – Glasgow and Clyde Rape Crisis are there to support women and girls in the Glasgow and Clyde area who have experienced rape or sexual violence.

Thriving Survivors – Their vision is to provide men, women, and children who are affected by trauma with access to services that are inclusive and restorative that will promote healing, no matter where they are in the world.

SAY women – They offer safe semi-supported accommodation and emotional support for young women aged 16 to 25 who are survivors of sexual abuse, rape or sexual assault and who are homeless, or threatened with homelessness.

Glasgow Woman’s Aid – Glasgow Women‘s Aid has been supporting women, children and young people experiencing domestic abuse.

NHS Health & Wellbeing Hub – Resources for lots of different kinds of help.

Chris’s House – Centre of Help, Response and Intervention Surrounding Suicide

Shelter Scotland – They help to defend the right to a safe home and fight the devastating impact the housing emergency has on people and society.

Kindness Glasgow – They offer a pop up soup kitchen in George Square two evenings per week, on a Monday and Wednesday. They help furnish houses and support making houses homes, and offer food parcels 4 days per week

Refuweegee – Refuweegee is a community-led charity that gives people a way to welcome and embrace those newest to arrive.

Turning Point Scotland – Turning Point Scotland is the country’s leading social care developer and provider.

Mind – When you’re living with a mental health problem, having access to the right information is vital. 

Shout85258 – Shout is the UK’s first and only free, confidential, 24/7 text messaging service for anyone who is struggling to cope.

Archway Glasgow – Archway Glasgow is a specialist service made up of a team of experts experienced in caring for people who have been raped or sexually assaulted within the last 7 days.

Sandyford Clinic – Specialist sexual health service for Greater Glasgow and Clyde area.

SANE – SANE’s vision is of a time when no individual or family has to face the distress or isolation that results from coping with mental illness alone.

Rethink – The leading expert charity for people with serious conditions like schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. We offer practical help guided by what works.

Women’s Support Project – The Women’s Support Project works to end violence against women.

NHS Inform – Support if you have been sexually assaulted.

Victim Support Scotland – Their work is all about putting victims and witnesses first.

No Feart – Reclaim Your Life from Abuse and Trauma.

Glasgow Pregnancy Choices – Time and space to explore your experience and grieve after any baby loss, whatever the circumstances.

TARA Scotland – TARA (Trafficking Awareness Raising Alliance) was established in 2004 to provide support to women who may be trafficked and exploited.

Wellbeing Glasgow – They provide a range of self-help materials and courses rooted in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to support you with various challenges you may be facing.

Centre for Clinical Interventions – If you experience a condition that is affecting your mental health and are looking for specific information about different types of problems then the ‘workbooks’ or sets of modules in this section may be relevant to you.

Children and Families

CAMHS Resources – For young people, carers and professionals to pool together lots of helpful resources from across the internet that are available to help support your mental health and well-being.

NSPCC Scotland – Support and advice for families.

Childline -Support and confidential advice for young people and families.

Stop It Now – Support for anyone with a concern about child sexual abuse and its prevention.

Trauma Informed Parenting Group – They offer workshops and support for parents, carers, teachers and anyone living or working with children with challenging behaviours due to trauma or additional needs to apply a “trauma lens”. 

ACEs & Trauma Scotland Forum – To discuss Adverse Childhood Experiences and Trauma Informed Practice – share good practice, thoughts and plans and work together throughout Scotland.

Children First – Children First is Scotland’s national children’s charity. We stand up for every child because all children should have a safe childhood. 

With Kids – With Kids believe in improving the mental health and emotional well-being of children so that each and every child can flourish.

Tiny Changes – A community of tiny change makers, working together to help young minds feel better.

Mermaids – Supporting trans, non-binary and gender-diverse children, young people and their families.

PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Suicide is the UK charity dedicated to the prevention of suicide and the promotion of positive mental health and emotional wellbeing in young people.

 

Drugs and Alcohol Support

SFAD – Scottish Families Affected by Alcohol and Drugs is a national charity which supports anyone affected by someone else’s alcohol/drug use in Scotland.

FASS Glasgow – Support for family members affected by a loved one’s drug or alcohol use.

Glasgow Council on Alcohol – GCA is a charity offering Alcohol Counselling, Group Work and deliver Alcohol Brief Interventions in Glasgow & surrounding areas.

Alcoholics Anonymous – A Fellowship, alcoholics help each other and reach out to others struggling with alcoholism.

Narcotics Anonymous – If you have a problem with drugs, we are recovering drug addicts who can help you get and stay clean.
