A Glasgow institution, tell us more about the history of the Hidden Lane Tearoom
The tearoom has been tucked down the Hidden Lane in Finnieston for over ten years. We have a great team of staff including some fantastic bakers, and we’re proud to be so highly review for our food and service. It’s the perfect spot off the beaten track to stop for a tea and scone, or enjoy afternoon tea with friends.
Tell us what is happening at the Hidden lane Tearoom this festive season?
Our festive afternoon tea is launching from 25th November, and is £19.95 per person – it’s full of festive sweet and savoury treats and we also offer BYOB if you’d like to bring along a bottle of fizz. We will also be launching seasonal hot drinks like our popular orange hot chocolate and Partridge in a Pear Tea.
With your luxurious party package will there be any upcoming Christmas twists?
Our luxurious party package is really popular for events like Baby Showers, Hen Parties and special occasions and is held in our private function room which seats up to 20 people. It includes our festive afternoon tea, unlimited hot drinks, free corkage and guests can also being their own decorations and music to personalise their event.
What is all included in one of your amazing afternoon tea packages?
Our standard afternoon tea is £19.95 and includes finger sandwiches, a hot savoury, a mini scone with cream and jam, and four sweet treats. It also incudes a hot drink. We change up our afternoon tea menu regularly and theme it to the time of year. Everything in the afternoon tea is also baked from scratch in-house.
What are your bestselling treats and can you deliver these to GGC HQ please!?
Our scones are freshly baked every morning, and each day we create a seasonal special. At Christmas, you can expect festive versions like cherry & coconut, cranberry & dark choc and mince pie. We don’t do deliveries, but we do offer scone boxes and takeaway afternoon tea on your website – you van book a takeaway slot and collect from. The tearoom to enjoy at home.
What would you say is the best tea to have on a cold and frosty winter’s day?
We love a chai at the tearoom, and we blend our own chai’s in-house to make them extra special. They have been so popular that we now also sell chai bags to take home, which make excellent stocking fillers!
