Joining a book club isn’t just about diving into great reads—it’s a perfect avenue to make new friends, something we know lots of our community members are looking to do within the GGC.
The Glasglow Girls Club Book Club, created in collaboration with author Claire Duffy – aka the ‘Jackie Collins of Shawlands’ and sponsored by Renata Cook (founder of Renata Cook Wealth Management and host of the Wealth Magnetism podcast) – is a little different from the rest.
We Have Monthly Reads & Zoom Get Togethers
Every month we have a recommended read. Book clubbers can then join a monthly evening zoom to chat through the book of the month (which you can find in the list below).
Our zooms always take place at 8pm on the first Monday of the month and you will find the zoom details to join over in the events section of the website. These are completely free to get involved with.
We Have A Book Club Chat Room
To complement the zooms, we also have a chat room located within the Glasglow Girls Club Facebook Group. This is where ladies who love reading can come together to chat about books in general, as well as take part in our regular Q&A sessions on the books we have been reading. We Host Quarterly Book Lovers’ Tea Parties
At the end of each quarter, we will get together over a sparkling afternoon tea at the Corinthian, called the Book Lovers’ Tea Party!
To join us for our afternoon teas you don’t have to have read of the books from our reading list (or indeed be a part of the book club chat room). Instead, these events will encourage discussions on the genre which has been the focus for the quarter.
In the GGC Book Club Chat Room, you’ll meet a diverse group of women, all united by a collective love for literature.
Each of our Book Lovers’ Afternoon Teas then provides a relaxed, welcoming environment where everyone shares thoughts and stories, sparking interesting conversations. These interactions, centered around shared interests and new perspectives, naturally foster meaningful connections and friendships. So, if you’re looking to expand your social circle while also expanding your literary horizons, the GGC book club might just be the place for you!

What to expect –

Claire is a Glasgow crime, romance and romantasy author who is known as the Jackie Collins of Shawlands (mostly by herself). She was a screenwriter for over a decade until the film industry made her so bitter that she caught herself cycling past a production company giving it the finger. She quit, went to work in a pre school in Stockholm and wrote her first novel while her class of one-year-olds napped.
