Tell us about your business, the inspiration behind it, and when you launched it.
I tutor English for N5 and Higher as well as English as a foreign language. It’s something I’ve wanted to do for years, but in 2019, time and opportunity coincided, and I launched my business.
What’s the best piece of advice you were given at the start of your business journey?
The best advice I got was from my sister: just try it!
What has been your biggest lesson or challenge faced so far, and how did you overcome it?
Moving to online tutoring in 2020 was a steep learning curve, especially since I wasn’t prepared for the technology demands. I quickly learned to make sure the internet is working, and investing in a new laptop was a game changer.
What is your number one business tip for success?
Be thorough, be accurate, and keep believing in yourself.
What are the big business goals for the next year?
I want to take on more students and increase my visibility.
How can the GGC Business membership help?
It can help with boosting my visibility and finding more students. Being part of the membership is also an amazing source of inspiration.
What’s the dream?
To keep enjoying what I do.
What’s your favourite mantra to get you buzzed up for business?
Plan ahead.
Shout out to another local business you admire.
Kirsty Duncan, professional singer and a dear friend.
