Tell us about your businesses, the inspiration behind it and when you launched it?
I’m a Certified Zentangle teacher. A certified what, you’re probably thinking. Zentangle is a mindful drawing art form that consists of drawing patterns, stroke by stroke. Thanks to the repetition and the fact that it’s non-representational, Zentangle is extremely relaxing and has incredible benefits on your mental health and wellbeing.
After I experienced the significant decrease in my own anxiety due to Zentangle, I decided to become a Certified Zentangle Teacher in 2022 so that I could introduce more people to it.
It’s also a perfect activity for people who are into mindfulness but struggle with traditional meditation. If you don’t like doing breathwork of traditional meditation, you might like to try Zentangle. I teach one-on-one and in groups both in-person and online.
Best piece of advice you were given at the start of your business journey?
Keep going. Keep going even if you’re having a bad day, because you’re creating the life you’ve always wanted. Remember on the difficult days why you’re doing this and just how good the good days actually are. Never give up.
What has been your biggest lesson/ challenge faced so far and how did you overcome it?
I have been my biggest problem. I originally set up another business as a virtual assistant because being a Zentangle teacher full-time felt like a pipe dream to me. I told myself I couldn’t make a living doing something I loved so much. I then realised the only one stopping my dreams from coming true was me. I didn’t want that to be the case so now I’m making Wee Crafty Crow my priority.
What is your number 1 business tip for success?
Formalise a business plan or strategy. Having goals and targets gives you something to aim for and allows you to break everything down into manageable steps.
What are the big business goals for 2024?
Getting my YouTube channel started so that I can grow my business internationally. I also want to keep growing my email list to spread the word about Zentangle.

I don’t only teach individuals, I also teach corporate sessions. Bear me in mind if you’re wanting to do something a bit different than the usual team-building activities.
What’s the dream?
To be able to have a business that is fully focused on Zentangle, whether that’s me teaching in-person or online or selling my Zentangle artwork. I’m also wanting to get a passive income stream started – pre-recorded lessons that people can buy from me.
Fave mantra to get you buzzed up for business?
“You cannot swim for new horizons until you have courage to lose sight of the shore.”
I love this quote because I have never been out of my comfort zone so often as I have since setting up my own business. If something doesn’t scare you or challenge you, it’s not necessarily going to take you where you want to go. Challenge yourself, learn new things and you might just have more fun than you would have expected.
